Staying Chic in the Heat: Part 1: Hair

It’s almost July, ladies, and we have months of sweltering Louisiana heat ahead of us! It’s hard for anyone to look flawless in the insane heat of South Louisiana. I don’t think many people can argue with that! It’s always the same problems year after year. Fine straight hair gets flatter, and thick wavy/frizzy hair just grows bigger. Well I’m sorry to inform you but I have yet to find the perfect color and cut that can stand up to 100 degree heat with 100% humidity without the help of tons of products and hot tools. So please give us hairdressers a break, we are doing our best so you can look your best–and keep in mind ladies–we’re hot too!! Whether you are a working women or a stay at home mom, we always want to leave our house looking the best we can any day of the week. Deny all you want, but we always want to look and feel great! So I have come up with a few simple suggestions for the grueling summer heat.

First let’s talk about hair.

For my girls with medium to long hair that are out and about during the summer heat I have one very simple solution-Ponytail! Yes it is that simple!

I’m not exactly sure who to thank for making the ponytail look chic for women to wear day or night, but it is back and has been for some time, and I don’t see it going away anytime soon. When done right you can look absolutely flawless and professional all summer long. Fun and messy or sleek and polished it’s a definite win-win. The best thing about the ponytail, once in place you don’t have to worry about fixing your hair for the rest of the day. Just set it and forget it!

a ponytail not only keeps you cool but also chic

For my short hair ladies out there, straight, curly, wavy, etc., simple solution: Headband. Yes you read it right, headbands. Any size, shape, or material, if it goes with your look just wear them! Headbands keep your hair out of your face in the summer and, again, when done right you can still look stylish and professional at the same time. It really is that simple! (Headbands are actually great for any length hair and can also be used to dress up the ponytail!)

dress up your short hair with its own accessory

Well that’s all just my opinion of course, and at the end of the day you have to do what makes you feel beautiful and you will be sure to get it right every time!
